Get Your Canadian Boating License - The deadline is coming
Hello boaters, Rick Ostler here from North American Waterway with information on how to acquire your Canadian Boating License. Recreational boating is a favourite pastime here in the Kawartha Lakes area and all Canadians are now required by federal law to carry a boating license when operating a powered water craft under 4m in length.
All operators of powered watercraft used for recreational purposes within Canada will eventually require the card. The following three groups of boaters require the card immediately:
1. All operators of any powered watercraft less than 4m in length (13.1ft).
2. All operators of PWC’s (i.e.: sea-doo’s and jet skis).
3. All operators of any powered watercraft born after April 1, 1983.
As of September 15, 2009 all boaters will be required to have the Pleasure Craft Operator Card in order to operate a powered watercraft. There is no grandfather clause or age exemption – this law applies to all boaters. Powered watercraft includes watercraft fitted with any size motor – even a trolling motor.
To receive this boat operator license, you must pass a multiple choice exam with a score of at least 75%.
The most convenient way to obtain your Pleasure Craft Operator Card is by taking the test on the internet. You can study for free with the online study guide, take your boater exam and also print a temporary boating license when you pass.
There is also an opportunity to win $50,000.00 in prizes, including:
1. Boat, motor and trailer package.
2. Trip for 2 to Queens Charlotte Lodge, British Columbia.
3. Fishing day with legendary fisherman Bob Izumi at Bark Lake Resort.
4. A Bass Pro Shops 100 MPH Gore-Tex Rain Suit.
